visits to chagga villages

Mount Kilimanjaro is the homeland of the Chagga people, one of Tanzania’s largest ethnic groups. They settled on the south slope of Mount Kilimanjaro since 15^th century.  In village like ours (NKWESHOO) Chagga culture and traditions remain fairly strong. Most traditions and life styles such as “chagga bolt holes” and horticultural practices which seem to imitate the stratification of the rain forest neighboring their settlement “ the Chagga  gardens” are some of unique things you only experience homeland while with them. Such originalities make visits to chagga villages truly fascinating.
